Inca men and women always married in the same social class. It was improper to marry someone richer or poorer. Inca brides were bought with a dowry. The bride's parents would choose a husband based on the price offered. The groom's parents did the negotiating with the bride's parents. Once a deal was made, both sets of parents planned the wedding. Weddings were simple with the couple holding hands and exchanging sandals at the end of the ceremony. A feast was usually held afterward.
