Ancient Viking clothing consisted mostly of wool which they dyed with minerals and vegetables. The men wore a tunic, trousers and a cloak. Women wore a linen dress with an overdress that resembled an apron. The apron was held up by several brooches joined together with beads. A woman would also wear a kerchief on her head. Cloaks, hats and fur garments were worn by both men and women in the winter.
