Here are some finger foods that you and your guests may enjoy. Fingers recipe This recipe is for cookies that resemble fingers. You might wish to call them witches fingers. This may make them seem a little spookier. The ingredients are not difficult to find. This makes about 30 fingers. If you need more, simply double the recipe. Ingredients 1 1/3 cup of flour 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract 1/2 cup margarine or butter 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/2 cup of sliced almonds 1 tube of Red icing gel. Place the sugar, margarine, egg, vanilla and almond extract in a bowl. Stir the flour and baking powder into the mixture. Add the salt. Place plastic wrap over the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for twenty to thirty minutes. It is important to keep the dough cold. Take the bowl out of the refrigerator and remove half of it. Place the bowl back into the refrigerator. Use about a teaspoon of the cookie dough. Roll each teaspoon full into finger shapes. Use an almond slice for the finger nail. Squeeze the center of the finger. This will create a knuckle. Use your hand for a model. Cut marks into the knuckle area with a knife. Grease a cookie sheet and place the fingers on it. Bake about twenty minutes at 325F. If using metric, that is 160C. The fingers should be a pale shade of brown or gold. If not, leave them in for a few more minutes. Do the same with the other half of the cookie dough. Let the cookies cool for five minutes. You can decorate with the red icing gel. Use your imagination. You may wish to have red fingernails. You may wish to cut some of the cookies with gashes. Fill the gashes with the icing gel. This will give a gory and bloody effect. Healthy Fingers You can make a healthier version of these fingers if you like. Mix a package of dry onion soup mix with two cups of sour cream. Place it in a bowl. This is your dip. Cut several carrot sticks into finger shapes. For more realistic fingers, notch the ends. Place almond slices on for finger nails. Use the dip to make them stick to the carrots. Serve them on a plate. You can also place a bowl of baby carrots and celery sticks with the fingers. Your guests can have a fun and healthy holiday.
