Roman architecture can be credited to the Etruscans, who brought their designs to Italy in the 12th century. The Romans were the first to perfect the use of arches and made incredible advancements in the use of concrete. By adding volcanic ash to concrete, the Romans were able to make it stronger and safer to use than wood. The concrete was easier to use than stone and cheaper. The Romans could also build faster using concrete. They built amphitheaters, baths, temples and aqueducts with their advanced materials. Their buildings were strong and durable.
